Renovation Proposal - 2024

161 Ave de Madrid - Carrer de Lluçà, Barcelona, Spain
Competition Entry
for International Ideas Competition run by Barcelona City Council and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation.

This renovation project emerged from a competition aimed at revitalising a historic six-story apartment building in Barcelona’s Les Corts District. Aiming to reconnect the building’s previously isolated blind wall facade to the surrounding streetscape while reconfiguring the domestic spaces within. In an approach of addition through reduction, re-layering existing blunt architectural elements, this transformation seeks to bring a new quality of living and place to the building in continuum with the neighbourhood’s historical fabric.
